Games

These are the best Linux games that I could find. Most of them can be downloaded/purchased from Steam. It's not a surprise, I guess, because Valve actively promotes Linux as a gaming OS.

In fact, this is the very reason why they have released SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system for gamers, which has gained a lot of popularity.

Mad Max

Runs great on Linux Mint. A post-apocalyptic, 3rd person game which takes place a huge, open world. Highly recommended, especially for the fans of the series.

Mekazoo

A fantastic 2.5D platformer that impresses with its shiny graphics and clever level design. Control two different characters, each one of them having its own abilities, or play the game in coop mode with a friend.

Rocket League

If you thought that soccer and driving don't mix well, you'd better think again! The game includes a huge variety of flying vehicles, allowing its players to score incredible goals.

PACMAN 256

Yes, Pacman for Linux is now available! Play solo or invite up to four friends to play in coop mode. This is definitely the best looking, most innovative Pacman game ever ;)

Day of the Tentacle Remastered

Can you imagine that this game was released for the first time back in 1993? It's a great looking adventure, in which you'll have to prevent a purple tentacle from taking over the world.

Salt and Sanctuary

Salt and Sanctuary is a 2D Castlevania-style platformer which cleverly combines furious combat with role playing game elements.

Pro Pinball Ultra

They say it's the world's most realistic pinball simulation, but I say that Pro Pinball is pure fun! The perfect game to play whenever you've got 10 minutes of free time.

Enter the Gungeon

If you've played this game on a console, you'll be surprised to discover that it plays even better on a Linux machine. And the huge number of crazy weapons guarantees that you won't ever get bored.

Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is back in a game that looks and feels amazing! If you've ever wondered if Linux games can look as good as their Windows-based counterparts, this is the title that surely proves it.

Cities: Skylines

Cities: Skylines sets the standard for the next generation of city management games. It's a complex game, but one that's well worth spending your time with.

GRID Autosport

Yes, Sir! Grid is now available for Linux, and it has gotten all the polish and the rest of the goodies that can be admired on today's gaming consoles. If you are looking for a top racing game, rest assured that this is it.

XCOM2

Stop reading this text and go get XCOM2 right now! You will thank me later for the advice! Yes, this game is THAT good...

Broforce

Looking for a fantastic retro action game, which allows you to blast hordes of evil enemies together with your friends? Fighting against terror has never been so fun!

ARK: Survival Evolved

What can you do if you wake up on the shores of a mysterious island? Well, you team up with, or fight against other players to survive, of course. Linux games have never looked this good!

Kings of Kung Fu

So, you like karate but you're too busy to go to the gym? Trust me, this is the closest thing to reality, at least on the Linux platform.

Nimble Quest

Lead a small team of heroes as you battle countless hordes of enemies across lots of carefully crafted stages. Improve your characters' abilities as you advance in the game.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Yes, it's the new version of the game you've played over a decade ago. And besides the huge graphics improvements, it packs lots of great add-ons (maps, characters, weapons).

AAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome

I had the privilege of playing an early (beta) version of this game, and I am really happy to see the final version of the product being released on Steam.

Sid Meier's Civilization

Finally, the flagship turn-based strategy game can be played on Linux computers! Engage in war, or solve tense situations diplomatically. Research new technologies and build the greatest empire ever.

Mount & Blade: Warband

Assemble your team of brave warriors, lead them into battles and grow your influence. Then, when you think that you are powerful enough, claim the throne of Calradia!

Serious Sam 3

A very funny, and yet very serious ;) first-person shooter game, which will make you relive those glorious days when games were really, really fun. Great enemies and great level design!

Solar 2

I know, this game may not look that amazing at first. But once you start exploring the huge, open-world universe, I guarantee that you will be hooked.
